The most common question we get: "Will solar be enough to run my aircon?" The answer depends on your system size — and the numbers might surprise you.
A 5kW Solar System's Daily Output in the Philippines
Using the formula from our quotation tool:
5.5 kWp × 4.5 hrs × 85% = ~21.0 kWh/day
4.5 hours = average peak sun hours in the Philippines
85% = real-world system efficiency (accounts for heat derating, inverter losses, wiring, dust)
Appliances a 5kW System Can Power Daily
Appliance | Power | Daily Hours | kWh/Day |
|---|---|---|---|
Inverter Aircon 1.5HP | 900W | 8 hrs | 7.2 kWh |
Refrigerator 2-door | 100W avg | 24 hrs | 2.4 kWh |
LED Lights ×20 | 8W each | 8 hrs | 1.28 kWh |
Smart TV 65" ×2 | 150W each | 6 hrs | 1.8 kWh |
Washing Machine | 500W | 1 hr | 0.5 kWh |
Rice Cooker + Kettle | ~1,600W | 1 hr | 1.0 kWh |
Laptops ×3 + WiFi | 190W total | 8 hrs | 1.52 kWh |
CCTV 8-camera | 60W NVR | 24 hrs | 1.44 kWh |
Total Daily Load | ~17.1 kWh |
A 5kW system produces ~21.0 kWh/day — that's 3.9 kWh surplus that can charge a battery for nighttime use or export to the grid via net metering.
What This Means for a Real Filipino Family
A typical 4-5 bedroom home in Metro Manila or Cebu with:
Inverter aircon running 8+ hours daily — covered
Full refrigerator running 24/7 — covered
3 work-from-home laptops + CCTV — covered
Washing machine and kitchen appliances — covered
20 LED lights — covered
Monthly savings: approximately ₱6,600/month on a ₱8,000 bill. Payback period: 3.1 years.
What About a Bigger Bill?
The formula scales linearly. For a ₱15,000/month bill, a 10kW system covers the same load ratio. Use our free Solar Quotation Tool — enter your bill and it shows exactly which appliances your system covers, broken down by kWh/day.
