What to Specify When Buying

  • Maximum continuous operating voltage (Uc): Must exceed your system voltage by 10-15%

  • Impulse current (Iimp): Minimum 20kA for Type 2; 25kA recommended for Philippine conditions

  • Protection level (Up): Lower is better; maximum 2.5kV for equipment protection

  • IEC 61643-11 certification — don't accept uncertified "surge protectors"
